On Friday 27th June for One night only a special collaboration between New World Africa Records, New World Productions, Abavuki & Shamanzi at Mercury Live.

The stage presentation of evolution-the-event (www.evolution-the-event.com), charting the ascent of mankind from the big bang right up to modern man, mapping the stages of life through creation, past conflict, into urban life and beyond.

Live marimba, brass and African percussion fused with theatrical performance art in front of a multi-screen presentation of stunning visuals and lighting. The soundtrack has been re-mixed in Europe and is a collaboration between Abavuki and musicians from the UK.

Using theatrical performance art, live sound & visuals, Evolution weaves together the different elements of the show, bridging old time storytelling by using modern day technology to transport us into a New World.

Doors open at 9pm and the performance starts downstairs at 10pm with drumming and percussion exchanges with the artists. The main stage show will start at 11pm and DJ Dino Moran will take to the decks afterwards. Tickets available at the door or online at www.mercuryl.co.za. Admission is R50 (or R100 including a CD of the Evolution soundtrack). The CD features a special re-mix of "Papa was a rolling stone" by DJ Stan-Ley, musical director of trendy London nightclub, Chinawhite.
